DIGITAL GRID was founded to support a future where renewable energy becomes the primary source of power.
The Company’s mission is to leverage digital technology to optimize renewable energy—whose output fluctuates depending on weather conditions—and establish it as a core energy source for the future, ultimately helping society overcome energy constraints.

By expanding the use of renewable energy, which can be utilized sustainably through the power of nature, DIGITAL GRID aims to contribute to a more sustainable society beyond dependence on fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

“Digital Grid” refers to a technology concept created in 2008 in the laboratory of Professor Rikiya Abe at the University of Tokyo, enabling electricity to be digitally color coded and freely traded.

At the time of its invention, Japan’s electricity system was dominated by one-way power flows from large-scale thermal and nuclear power plants operated by regional utilities, and the concept of a decentralized Digital Grid was considered premature.

More than a decade later, distributed renewable generation such as rooftop solar has become increasingly common, while decarbonization and renewable energy procurement have emerged as key corporate priorities.

Although challenges remain, DIGITAL GRID continues to leverage its technology and network to advance energy democratization and overcome energy constraints for future generations.
